I made that one up, you can quote me! I have often said “life is shortâ€, then the next day complain “this was a long dayâ€.
These complaints sound like a time management issue, and there could be some truth to that. But I am leaning more toward it being a wisdom and contentment issue. “Life is (too) short†is usually referring to the fact that we need to make the most of each day, mend broken relationships, and take that pottery class you have been talking about. “This was a long day†is usually referring to a busy work day and you just want it to be over.
Why is contentment so out of reach?
I believe it is because we are always looking for our circumstances to change in order to “be happy”. I believe true joy comes from learning to be content in ALL circumstances. When you have an attitude of “WE before ME” you will notice the skies of joy begin to open.
So today, instead of looking to make yourself happy, look to bring joy to someone else… and instead of the day being too long, you will wish it was longer!
